Visiting the Camels in Hunder - Ladakh

Lost in greenery and closely backed by soaring valley cliffs, Hunder is popular for its desert like sand dunes and for camel rides. There is an army camp nearby, so we watched some airplanes flying over us!

A Visit in Turtuk - Ladakh

It's easy to run out of superlatives as you drive along the turbulent Shyok Valley towards Turtuk, which is only 12km from the Pakistan border. Parts of the road are very bad but it's worth it! Turtuk is a peaceful village and summer sees local women busy carting huge bundles of barley on their backs. Children in school uniforms pick apricots from one of the hundreds of trees. As we did too!

The Old Town in Leh - Ladakh

Dotted with stupas and crumbling mud-brick houses, the Old Town is dominated by an imposing Tibetan-style palace and fort. You will meet many stylish monks with smartphone and sunglasses, old women selling vegetable from their gardens. And not to forget all the sleeping dogs!

Some Impressions of the incredible Landscape - Ladakh

Impressive Spituk Monastery is a Buddhist monastery in Leh and perched overlooking the southern end of Leh's airport runway. You find sleeping dogs as well as many offerings like jewels, money and food. His Holiness The Dalai Lama has his own comfy seat in the monastery and a Buddha statue supposedly incorporates a very odd relict: Tsongkhapa's nosebleed!
